You know what sucks? When no one is around to photograph you in the hat you just made and you're having a bad hair day anyway and it's raining out so you have to set up a back drop in your doorway where the lighting isn't as good and the only decent shot you were able to get was of your legs.
Anyway, I know this picture really doesn't do the hat justice at all and a better post is in order soon but this is the prototype for my new hat. See it back there? This one is made of wool coat material and has black piping around the brim and features a black satin ribbon and bow around the crown. It is fully lined and the frame is handmade and wired sturdily.
Right now I am playing with the different ways to keep this shallow crowned hat on your head. An elastic band? Combs? Loops? This is what prototypes are for.
Thoughts?

I would totally buy this gorgeous hat. I like them with elastic you can loop under a low bun or ponytail - having to use hat pins is a pain.

I prefer combs for my vintage hats. They hold much better for my fine hair.
