A demi bee hive has been a choice hair style for me through the August humidity. 100 percent and up everyday. The only way to get a style to stay in weather like this is to rat it out ala Gaultier and seal it with half a bottle of Elnet.
Through the heat I've been secretly dreaming of Fall fashion. Namely, WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR TO FASHION WEEK!!?? Fashion week is by far the best time to take all your seasonal outfits for a test run. I'm feeling black leather, velvets, dark lips, long gloves, and long hair. I'm also going to be on quite a few jobs through the week, not to mention visiting with some rad friends in from out of town who I'm sure you'll recognize.
Basically this is going to be the best fashion week yet and since the sixties are in, you can bet my beehive will be sticking around once the temperatures drop.

This weekend I am back in Seattle shooting not one but two films! The first I'm starring as a sadistic nurse which we begin filming tomorrow. The second however is my very own documentary, directed by the lovely Laura Gatto. Courtney Love wrote in her memoirs that "one should go through life as though they were being followed by a camera", advice which I aught to take to heart these days.
So far Seattle is cold, grey, and filled with assholes. I'm indulging in all my favorite foods like Pho and cheap burritos and spending my free moments reminiscing about the good ol' days.
Tomorrow we are shooting much of the first film in an abandoned hospital. Creepy photoshoots are sure to come your way.

I've received a number of requests for "a tour of my room" from curious readers that are sick of simply catching glimpses of it in my lazy outfit posts (i.e. the ones I couldn't be bothered to shoot outside). This inspired me to first clean and reorganize my room (something my own mother could never even get me to do) and finally, shoot some lovely photos of it all for you dear ever growing number of readers. Since I can't have you all over for tea, pink champagne, and jordan almonds; here is a glimpse into my current space:

This is my beside table. I keep a rose scented candle, a candy dish full of cinnamon hearts, a Wetsey Betsey doll, and some catholic children's books on it. The magazine stack is made up of vintage Playboys I've picked up at junk shops as well as a catalogue of female impersonators from San Francisco club Finocchio's circa the mid 1960's.

This was my grandparents poodle or, as I call it, my inheritance poodle!

I've had this plush bed spread printed with The Virgin Mary and roses for years!

This is an early poster of my drag baby Amoania from the first Hey Tranny It's Tranny party which is now in it's third year in Seattle! You can also see my clothing racks as well as my extensive beret collection!

I use vintage night gowns and house coats as curtains. They look good on too.

My friend Erik dropped this on my doorstep on my birthday a few years ago which wasn't surprising to me at all. I've kept her ever since even though she's kind of sticky...

This is my modest feather hat collection. If any of you stumble upon any mesh feather hats in your vintage adventures, send them my way! You'll be invited to the color coded feather hat tea party I will one day throw when I've obtained enough of them! The rest are various vintage and/or handmade hats and one custom wig I created and wore to gogo at a Labyrinth theme party several years ago (I was a fire gang dancer).

I like these dolls because the girl is pretty in sort of a rough way and the baby only has one eye.

Remember that hat? Well I'll be manufacturing them soon so keep watch!

This is a portable 45 player I found in the garbage. It's missing a needle so I like to display photos of stewardesses, my mothers plastic rosary, and other vintage goodies on it. I want to get it fixed soon so I can listen to my Little Peggy March: Wind Up Doll 45 as loud as it can go on repeat while I cry. Those red heels are my favorite pair of shoes. I can't wear them any more because they're falling apart. I bought them at Value Village when I was 18 for $3.00.

These are the things I keep above my bed which include a portrait someone painted of my grandmother that she never really liked, a picture of my favorite place in St. Joseph Missouri, and a polaroid of me dancing with a huge vegan sausage. I keep my colored straw hats on this wall as well as the front of a sweatshirt my friend Gina custom made me in high school which is one of my most favorite possessions.

My cat enjoys using this cum rag from my favorite gay bar in Seattle as a blanket.

I don't have many books but I do have an impressive collection of VHS tapes which I highlight with the pulp novel Love Cheat and a photo my mom took of Nina Hagen in the early 1980's.

My grandma gave me this pink quilted satin organizer which I keep an assortment of jewelry and french candies in.

You have to find artful ways to display your hats when you own as many as I do. The giant black straw hat is one of my favorites, especially for drag!

I keep all my hair in this vintage leopard wig box. I get music from Hedwig and the Angry Inch stuck in my head every time I look at it.

I hope you've enjoyed my room as much as I did up until last night when a giant water bug crawled under my door and proceeded to run frantically around my cat until roommate smashed it with my studded boot which took an unusually large amount of lysol and paper towels to clean up. The moral of the story is, even the cleanest of rooms are not safe from roaches the size of your hand but at least they look good in photos. XO from NYC!

I apologize for my lack of consistent blogging. Over the weekend I made an unexpected trip to California for my Grandfathers funeral. He was 93 years old and had a successful career as a pilot. Staying in his house was strange and haunting and my time in between gatherings was spent treasure hunting though the many rooms in the house trying to learn more about him on a personal level. I spent hours in the basement dressed in vintage furs and army hats picking through photos dating back to the early 1900s, liquor bottles left on the bar from the 1960s, and god knows what else. The view was amazing. It was so strange to be in such a spacious place surrounded by trees and hills and birds after waking up in Manhattan every day for the last 6 months. It all felt sort of surreal. It was the most exposure I've ever had to my Grandfathers world and soon I'll be making another trip back to help my mother take care of all the business the comes from losing a relative.
For now, enjoy this little glimpse into a world of airplanes, travel, golf, catholicism, and retro americana.
RIP Grandpa Ken.

I want to apologize for my lack of updates on here. I've been balancing day jobs with an internship at a haberdashery in midtown which leaves only a few hours free each day for me to do anything I really care about. It breaks my heart that I can't blog every day like some people can. A change is clearly needed but till then I'm gonna try hard to keep doing what I love as much as I can.
Speaking of work, my day jobs are in Brooklyn. In Brooklyn everyone has a baby and a dog and a beard and dresses like they're going on really impractical camping trips. Because of this I find the need to wear plaid nearly every day I'm there. I mean, it's not that bad with a beehive and a sheer blouse right?
My hair has faded to a minty blonde and I'm taking my extensions out tonight because they are past their prime. I hope I can save them! Also, I'm shooting the ad for my glitter collars this week and can't wait to reveal the finished product to you all!! One step at a time (when I find the time)...

Blouse and skirt are vintage from my step mom. Shoes are Topshop.

I've chosen to combat the winter blues a hefty supply of floral mints. Violet mints are the most common but occasionally you can find rose flavor like the Flavigny mints pictured here which each contain an anis seed in the center.
The Leone mints are more like candy. I keep them on my dresser and eat them while I put on perfume.
My favorite floral mints are the Chowards violet mints in the foil roll. They are basically violet soaked sugar cubes and they perfume your entire mouth. I keep a case of them in my closet but a single roll will freshen your handbag! Flowers are the new mint.

Welcome to my new nest. Its a big mess of boxes and clothing right now but it's blossoming a little more every day as it becomes my living quarters as well as my studio. Bubblegum pink walls liven up the mess in the meantime. These days I am piling up my hair and bundling up in faux fur. Working hard all day and exploring in the evening. My life changes drastically from one week to the next right now but having all my belongings in one place finally means a whole lot of great things to come! I can't wait!

I got these amazing Halloween esque nails done by Naomi Yasuda last weekend. Hand painted roses with stripes and rhinestones! What do you think? I'm also abusing my glitter canvas as a background before I cut it into collars! I kind of want a wall of this stuff. I'm too busy to do much this Halloween but I've been dabbling in the festivities when I get a chance. What are all of you doing to celebrate?

I'm not exactly homesick for Seattle but having these photos already brings back memories. Sometimes it feels like I've been gone a lot longer than a month and a half. In order:
My last time in the gogo cage at the Eagle with Pierre and Dominique. A sea of popcorn that was part of my daily routine at The Harvard Exit Theater. A peek at The Atomic Bombshells pre show getting ready for the curtain to open. I got to watch all the shows from the side of the stage as a pickup girl. A view of Seattle's Space Needle as seen from my neighborhood- Capitol Hill. A collage photo of Addison in his apartment with an overap of him picking me up. Addison gives the best hugs around! The crazy twinkle lights inside Pony.
A big bowl of strawberry champagne with umbrellas that Sarah Galvin whipped up. The most amazing picture ever of William singing his last karaoke song at The Crescent Bar where he hosted. Me and some very very old friends having a reunion, a very surreal moment. One of my favorite people doing what he does best (this time it was naked jumping jacks on a busy street at 2 a.m.)! And finally, my going away poster cake.
I have some surprises coming up for my Seattle friends! Stay tuned!

I added a green chunk in my hair for October. I had to dilute my dye with lotion because I couldn't find any conditioner! Gross but it worked.
If you saw my recent status you'll know that I am very excited about the sewing studio space I just acquired! I'm sharing it but it's a place where I can cut, sew, block, and make a mess which is more than I've had for the last two months. I'm already developing a new design and I'm so excited to go back into production again- this time with full force!
Tomorrow I'm shooting an editorial for a Hawaiian magazine! Stay tuned for candid shots!

My calico kitty-Inch, has been staying up town until I'm officially settled. It feels like she is a million miles away. Missing her has forced me to obsessively cuddle other cats such as Kindra's stupidly adorable fat faced cat Teddy pictured here. These pictures describe my future- standing in a costume room holding a cat. I should really print this and keep it in my wallet to remind me of my short term goals...

You can get anything in New York. You can even salvage mirrored pink patent leather. The bad news is its still going to be a little bit of a wait until I get my sewing studio set up again.
However, the good news is these gorgeous materials will soon be turned into items available to each of you! I can't wait! Can you?

1. Drag on the Eagle dance floor.  2. The Harvard Exit Theater  3. Erik under patio lights  4. Lady Krishna's cat  5. An old wheatpaste I put up about a year ago6. The chandelier at Pretty Parlor  7. Outside the Cha Cha  8. Mark Mitchell with Gloster  9. My ugly old moldy building10. City Market!

During my last couple weeks in Seattle I documented many of my favorite places and people on film and I'm super excited about the way many of the photos turned out!! This batch covers partying inside the Eagle where Fringe used to take place weekly and DJ Nark reigns supreme. The Harvard Exit was the movie theater I worked at for years. It used to be a suffragette club in the 20's so it's extra fancy both inside and out. My wheatpaste still stands on the corner in front of City Market where the last photo is taken. We always used to frequent City Market after the clubs got out. I've gone in there for snacks in pretty much every ridiculous costume I own with my drag queen friends. I wish I had surveillance footage...
I featured Lady Krishna's cat in her magical apartment that always smells of tea and incense and various paints. I love the way my photo of the pink chandelier at Pretty Parlor turned out. The owner-Anna, used to swing from it at every party held there. The picture taken outside the Cha Cha turned into a light show! The lights make up a large illuminated arrow pointing to the bar. It's been around forever and brings back fond memories of Seattle nightlife.
I also had to include my dear friend and mentor Mark Mitchell with his amazing dog Gloster. I've spent a lot of time pent up in his loft rhinestoning with his dog on my lap.
Finally I included my old building that I spent the bulk of the last few years in. It's crumbling from the top down and overrun with mice and black mold and when it rains all the apartments leak, even the ones on the bottom! There was a time when me and most of my closest friends rented apartments in it. Those days were horrible and magical.
This is only part one! I'll share part two with you soon. I hope you enjoyed these as much as I do.
