I've been rediscovering my love for early Madonna lately so I watched Desperately Seeking Susan the other night and went crazy over the style. Faded neons, messy glamour, and a casual nod to punk fashion. I grew up with this Madonna and I will never stop loving her.

Madonnas early style screams mid eighties summer in Manhattan. The only people who do true street fashion better are the japanese.
I know the 70s are like, totally all the rage but now but I'm going to stick with my 80s NYC roots and channel Madonna this summer. Snazzy jackets with back patches, see through tops, neon socks, and maybe even cut off black pants. A stringy up do held together with a scarf and sunglasses. Hopefully some fully rhinestoned ankle boots...
It's all making me lonesome for New York. Hopefully soon I'll be living it up in an NYC heat wave...

  1. YES! i watched this movie again a few weeks ago after years of not having seen it, and i was drooling over her wardrobe. i'm glad someone else understands how amazing 80s madonna was.

  2. You can always rely on me for that!

It's definitely all about the boots! Madonna looks amazing in this film!

  4. I so wanted to be her when I was a younger. I saw DSS in the theater when it came out and afterwards I went right out and got a rad cropped leather jacket. Totally obsessed. ;)

  5. I think we need to make a Madonna style revival happen soon.

  6. This is the Madonna I grew up with and love!
She truly did have her own style here.
I also admire her because of all the times she has been around not nice did she ever have a breakdown or in the news for drugs'

I must say she did go crazy with that fake british talk but I don't care, she was an original of her time.

  7. I grew up with this Madonna too because my mom owned her immaculate collection music video tape and I would dress up and dance to it when I was four!

AMEN! EVERYTHING in that movie she wore was GREAT> I wanted it all. Especially the pyramid jacket, the earring, and the suitcase! UGH! FANTASTIC!

  9. Apparently they made novelty pyramid jackets and also knockoff boots at the time of release. They would advertise for them in the back of magazines (send 34.99 to P) box etc etc etc). I want one.
