Look how gorgeous jazz darling Esperanza Spalding looks wearing one of my silver glitter collars! She picked it to wear at her concert just days ago in my old home town Seattle! According to a friend in attendance "You could actually see light bouncing off of it and onto the walls 20+ feet away." I found a video someone took from about that distance that proves her point to be true.
I'm so happy to be able to outfit a lovely lady such as Esperanza! I hope to meet her one day in person. You can view the look on her website HERE.

Thank you so much to Jeff and Cassie O Sullivan, and Esperanza for making this happen!!

Speaking of unpublished images for Contrast Magazine, I thought I may as well share these photos of me taken back in October by Daeja Fallas. They were for an article that never made it to print. I'm wearing a handmade skirt, hat, and the prototype design for the glitter collar. So strange that this was only 6 month ago. Things move so fast here in NYC it feels like ages ago.
Yesterday I was photographed by Glamour Magazine while making my way through Soho. I'm am praying...PRAYING that they put me in Don't category again. Everyone cross your fingers.

Take a moment during lunch today to hop on over to Sous Style- A style site on the modern homemaker put together by Pippa Lord, the photo editor of Elle Magazine. I am the cook of the day in their Cook For Me column! Watch me roll around in my glamourous room and then make a batch of bacon flavored tofu in my not-so-glamorous kitchen. Leave a comment under the article if you like what you see! Welcome to an honest view of my home life in the big apple!

The Manhattan Vintage Show never disappoints. Over 100 of the best vintage vendors from in and out of state under one roof! It happens about once every season for your wardrobe convenience! I had to avoid the rows and rows of hats like those from Top Hat above. I have too many already!!
The jewelry was incredible- plastics, pastels, and rhinestones everywhere! The spread at De Jewels was the best but I ended up purchasing a wild orange lucite ring and a trio of the coolest bangles I've ever seen from some other vendors.
I also bought an italian red leather clutch and an amazing bright orange 1950s jumpsuit (all pictured above) from Lorry Polizzi, a shop out of Connecticut that always has the best prices out of any vendor at the show. I always find great things at their booth. I like the orange jumpsuit because it makes me feel like a glamorous convict on the run. If I wear it too much I may be tempted to give my self some stick and pokes and take up smoking.
I was freaking out at the show over the original Vivienne Westwood pieces. Being able to see and touch a Sex shirt in person was well... sexy!If only I could afford the $1,200 price. One day I will. Though I'll never dare to wear the shirt once i do. I'll have to frame it...
After watching The Gang's All Here the previous night I was feeling decidedly 1940s so I gave a pleated skirt, wedges, and a liberty roll/vintage hat combo a modern twist with my trusty leather jacket that I know you are all a fan of. Thanks to January Hunt for helping out with photography!

Hat, earring, and ring are vintage. Jacket is a hand me down. Shirt is American Apparel. Skirt is Sheinside. Shoes are from Dry Goods.

I'm enthusiastic about sharing these unpublished images from an editorial for Contrast Magazine featuring a heart hat I made. The images never made it to print and I never got a chance to see them until now! They are simply breathtaking! Makes me want to make more of these heart hats... Do you love these as much as I do?
You can see the printed editorial here.

This is the Springiest I've looked all Spring: flowers, mint green, the whole she-bang. I love that my bangs match this dress perfectly! I should be wearing it every day.
On this evening I attended an art show with my family near Bryant Park and had dinner afterwards. I love going to that area. Everything is extra big and moves extra fast and all the buildings are well over 100 years old. It feels classy just to walk down these streets, especially if you are clad in your finest vintage. A crossing guard complimented my outfit as I ran past Grand Central Station holding my hat on in the wind.
Earlier on this day my friend Jill called me from Seattle. She said she had visited a psychic out of state recently and during the reading the psychic brought me up! She pulled my name out of nowhere! The psychic described me as a hoot! She said that I am a person that will do whatever I want to do. She said I am a good person with a kind heart, that I possess a deep level of personal spirituality, and that I love to gather interesting people in my life. Ha! So amazing.
I hope you are all having a lovely spring time!

Hat, dress, and belt are vintage. Jacket is vintage Imagnin. Clutch is handmade. Heels are Marc by Marc Jacobs.

I live uptown but I'm a downtown girl at heart. I love the daytime uniform all the girls downtown wear: messy hair, big sunglasses, a cropped jacket, and something flowing underneath. This ensemble is my homage to them.
I finally got my nails back- long glittery claws. No more short stubby chipped natural nails for me. I got Calgel nails and so far I love them. What do you think?
I'm also obsessed with these espedrilles I bought at Dry Goods in Brooklyn. Apparently it's the same brand Picasso wore (I only hope it's the same style too). They are so comfortable and perfect for the 70+ degree weather we've been having. NYC is gorgeous right now and I'm thankful every day I spend in it.

Glasses are Miu Miu. Dress is vintage Jack Mulqueen. Leather Jacket is a hand me down. Espedrilles from Dry Goods.

I know many of you are curious about the film I was shooting last week in Seattle and I'm thrilled to share this selection of beautiful production photos with you!
The short, directed by my friend Julia Camp, is about a sinister nurse played by me! It was only the second time I've done film acting but I had a lot of fun and got to wear a super hot fitted vintage nurse uniform (thanks to the tailoring skills of Camille Goodman). It was also great to have friends on board with the project- Blake on makeup and Kevin as DP.
Check out the Nurse Nancy IMDB page, not to be confused with a 1991 porno film of the same name...
I'll have more updates soon. Here's to step by step movie stardom!

Well, they heart my collar design anyway. Check me out on Topshop's Tumblr page minding my own business at NYFW in one of my coveted glitter collars. See what happens when you show up to fashion week looking chic? If you've read my fashion week guide you can now plainly see what I mean about ending up on Tumblr. It happened to me!
Hey Topshop! You wanna offer me a few thousand for the design? I might just hand it over!

Photos by Keith Johnson, and Rachel Robinson with Nark Magazine

Remember the days of mile long photo entries from wild Seattle dress up parties? Lets relive those days for a second with a (very large) selection of my favorite shots from Party Schmarty last week at The Oriental Express in Seattle- a series of abandoned train cars linked together to create a combination Chinese restaurant and karaoke night club! My friends Kitten, Ben, and Lou threw together this swanky gathering complete with pompadour sporting gay boys, dance songs about chips, and Donnie Darko bunnies who play twister (best. photo. ever.). I went with my film maker Laura Gatto!
Believe it or not I had all of 10 minutes to get ready for this event thanks to an unexpected high speed ride in a police car trying to track down a gunman on the loose downtown just hours earlier. Imagine me in my best Imagnin vintage skirt speeding through downtown Seattle chasing a crazed gun shooting 17 year old. We never found him and maybe in my case, thats a good thing. I'd hate to spill any blood on my new beaded ivory sweater. The joys of being a witness to a crime...
Anyway, I wore my hair "au natural" and opted for a sophisticated dress from Pretty Parlor. I also went for "elegance face" in nearly every picture. See that? Heavy on the lids, light on the smile. Elegance face. It looks good next to my dear friend Evan who was going for more of a greaser dream boat thing. Ladies? Gents? I think everyone will be dreaming sweetly of Evan after watching him slick back his hair in the mirror. After making sweet love to my gay husband Kevin- the man behind Nark Magazine, and squeezing Blake's giant tits I went home and crashed. I hope to start going out more in NYC, Seattle makes me realize how much I miss it!
